April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players who be able to do so. In Tokyo over the next few days she will attempt to secure her third gold alongside fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. However, more importantly Ross wants to secure her very first Olympic gold. As she turns 39, it could be her final chance to take home an Olympic gold. She remains confident though that the most important medals are in reach. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that he felt confident we could win a gold medal when we play our best. And, I'm also going have a chance to try my hand at lucky. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her sisters and parents, was the first to begin taking part in athletics in Newport Harbor High School. At Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of different sports. In her time as a college athlete, she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. She clearly was the top in the game of indoor volleyball. During her high school career she was a middle blocker, outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court according to her university bio. In recognition of her work she was honoured as an 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman are working together in the year 2017. However, Ross was already an established player on the world of beach volleyball prior to Klineman and Ross joined forces. She has won major events with different teams. One of them has become an icon in the world of volleyball. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Together together with Kessy, Ross won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing internationally. The pair eventually captured gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. Ross is Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's exit. In 2016, the duo were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a student athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning the start of her professional career. The Trojans were at high school and before hitting the beach as a professional. And her run through the institution was an impressive one. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-American. In 2000, her Trojans made it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she suffered a devastating personal tragedy, but was able to be named an All-American. The two years following her, she took the Trojans to the top of the hill to win consecutive national titles. For her part she established herself as a legend after winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the most outstanding female player of the year in America. Ross was a major in foreign relations and international affairs at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the privilege of watching her daughter turn into the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She still cherishes the memory of her parent. Margie remains an inspiration at the beach and all throughout her life.
